Today there are 8 parties in Sweden. The Swedish Riksdag has 349 members. The next election in Sweden is on September 13, 2026. Those elected to the Riksdag serve a 4-year term.

Geography

Sweden is divided into 3 different parts. Götaland in the south, Svealand in the middle, and Norrland in the northern part of the country. The country is also divided into 25 provinces, 21 counties, and 290 municipalities.

All provinces have their own provincial flowers and provincial animals.

Stockholm is the largest city and the country's capital. Here you can find the parliament and government, the largest airport, and the major arenas. Approximately 986,340 registered inhabitants live here.

Gothenburg is the second-largest city with approximately 599,305 registered inhabitants.

Malmö is the third-largest city with approximately 360,249 registered inhabitants.
